Brands Hatch PreviewRory Johnson
MaX5 heads to Brands Hatch this weekend, there are a total of 17 entries which is sure to make for some entertaining racing on the short Kent circuit. The forecast is for a dry weekend, which is typical as we’re in the garages.
In Class A Matt Tidmarsh will be looking to cement his championship lead in the Mk3s, but Andy Pretorius is sure to keep him honest, rumour has it a new Mazda MZR is sitting under the bonnet of number 77. A late entry by Lee Hollin will probably make it a three way battle for the top step of the Podium. A repeat of Pembrey perhaps? Joining the front runners at Brands will be regular Ade Baker, and the fast improving rookie Ade Johnson. Basil Rawlinson, the Mission Motorsport driver, returns for his 2nd MaX5 race meeting, as does Sam Moody following his summer long sabbatical, both will be looking to keep the Ade’s honest.
In Class B Josh Malin and Danny Grist will be battling for the honors in the Mk1’s. But could the new comer Ben Norfolk and returnee Nick Bailey give them a challenge? Brands also see a welcome return to the Lasletts, who will be doing the dishes after this weekend Graeme or Samantha?
Class C brings the four regular Mk4’s of Jon Halliwell, Paul Roddison, Ian Loversidge, and Jeremy Shipley. All will be hoping their gearbox’s last the weekend! As ever it is sure to be close battle between Halliwell and Rodders, the improving Loversidge is sure to keep them on their toes. Halliwell leads Rodders by 15 points after drop rounds, but after gearbox trouble earlier this year neither can afford a DNF with Loversidge waiting to pounce and take the championship lead.
